Who am I?
Well, I’m Michaela! I have formal training and certification as an editor in Canada, in addition to fifteen years of experience as a creative writer. I have two bachelor’s degrees (chemistry and animal health) and years of tutoring and proofreading experience to go along with them. I’m most comfortable with Canadian English, but I can also edit in American English following the Chicago Manual of Style.
Romance and fantasy are my preferred genres, but I won’t say no to others—variety is the spice of life, after all! When it comes to nonfiction, I have been an editor at Motivos magazine since 2021 and have edited several memoirs, self-help books, and more!
As a freelance copywriter, I enjoy writing educational pieces about animals and veterinary medicine. I have also worked with local ventures like Coelement Productions and Pechakucha to promote creative voices!
On a more personal note, I love horror, humour, and Brunhilde, my three-legged cat. I’m an active member of our local nerdy community and have a soft spot for fandom and fanworks of all kinds. When I’m not writing or editing, I’m probably playing Dungeons & Dragons.
